  • Area Attractions

  • Oban, Mull and Lorn have inspired writers, composers and artists alike, their creativity stimulated by the areas natural beauty. The bracken-clad mountains of Lorn sweep down to the coast at Oban - the Gateway to the Isles. Since Oban first began to thrive as a hub of West Highland travel, the Oban Caledonian has offered a warm welcome to weary travellers and navigators alike. Today, the pretty coastal town has become a destination in its own right. Although its status remains as the perfect base from which you can hop on a boat to the Isles - Mull, Coll and Islay among them - Oban offers considerably more than a stopping-off point en route to distant shores. Beautiful coastal and Highland scenery surround the local area and Loch Etive, just 5 miles away, is the home to Europes only seawater falls - The Falls of Lora.
